What I hope will be the first of many was achieved this weekend. I placed 6th at the Dixie National Tour in Cecil Georgia over the weekend. There were 18 drivers that I believe finished, and 20 drivers entered for the event, so the trophies filled out to 6th place. After day 1 I was sitting in 10th place. I wasn't too disappointed with that considering the troubles from Friday.

So I got up this morning, washed the F350 before Natalie took it back to the barn, where it will live until it gets used to tow again. (Good planning on my part sending it back to the barn with a winter storm supposedly hitting St. Louis tomorrow). I then washed the Z06 to get the travel grime off it from the trip back from Atlanta last weekend.

I started working on a YouTube module for DotNetNuke this evening. I have a very basic first version up here on Corvettez06.org.

You can check it out on my corvette video page.

So Natalie and I cut the St. Pat's trip short by about 14 hours. After the fun I had last night, I wasn't feeling up for another night of drinking so we left Rolla around 6pm this evening. Lesson learned, don't over drink yourself the night before your birthday, otherwise you spend your birthday in bed feeling your new age. Sunday I'm looking forward to a few things. I'm going to raise the front end on the Corvette up probably 1/4-1/2 inch, to hopefully stop dragging everytime I come to an inclined driving surface. I'm then going to head to Illinois and stop by the Novice School, try to get the car Annually teched, and then possibly go swing by Tuxedo Park and see how dirty the 240Z is. If Steven is over at TPR I'll do my best to try and talk him into letting me dyno the Z06, I'd like to get a baseline run in before I put the Borla exhaust on this week.

Nick and I got the Borla installed tonight and also raised the front end of the car up a bit more.

Due to a vendor mixup I'm short a set of wheels this weekend and autox season starts up. I need to buy a 17x9.5" C5 Z06 wheel to complete a set, and I need to do this before Thursday so I can get tires mounted Thursday night and drive to Kansas City Friday morning. Any chance anyone local has one wheel? I'd even consider a pair or a full set (2 17s and 2 18s) if someone has them. They don't have to be in good shape, just not beat to hell and back. I'd even be down for a set of C6 wheels in C5 Z06 sizes if anyone has them local.

Wow what a weekend. So here it goes, it is 10:19pm, let's see how long this takes. Wednesday after class I ran home and grabbed the truck so I could run off and pick up the trailer. I grabed the trailer and Andy Hohl helped me load the car up. I had to load up on Wednesday night because I was heading to Atlanta Thursday morning. The trailer load went well, as did the trip to Atlanta and back. Friday morning I left the house around 7:30 and hit the road to Newport Arkansas.

So I finally got around to cleaning up the Corvette yesterday. It really needed a coat of wax and a good going over with the clay bar so after a round of golf in the morning I came home and gave the car some love. Here's the order of things on Sunday. Wash Claybar Wash Polish Wax RainX I spent 4.5 hours or so cleaning up the car. All the marks are removed from the paint, though there are still some cone marks in the clear vinyl that I had troubles removing. And now for the results

Well, less than 24 hours from now Nick and I will be on the road to Atlanta. We're planning on pulling out of St. Louis around 3am, but we'll see how that goes. I will have a lot to do tonight to get ready. Load the car on the trailer, pack the van. Yup, VAN, I'm taking the SoloPerformance.com Church Van down to Atlanta. Much thanks to Dave for the loaner tow vehicle!

I mounted up the tires on the old street wheels last night. New Hoosier rubber for this weekend, hopefully we can get down in time to do some practice starts and get some of the new tire mold off.

It should be a fun weekend, and hopefully I'll have some great videos together. A big thanks to CorvetteZ06.org's Newest Sponsor, Chase Cam, www.chasecam.com. I've used Chase Cam equipment many times throughout the years and now get the chance to work with some of their newest equipment, needless to say I am stoked!

See you all in Atlanta!

Well here it goes, a wrap up post from the Atlanta National Tour. First things first, I won't have any of the video done for a bit now. My processing machine has gone nuts, and right now all I can do is access it through remote desktop. If I can get the onboard video card working I might be able to salvage some of the machine and get some processing done.

On the note of video, the only one of my three video devices that worked flawlessly all weekend was the Chase Cam, a big thanks to Randy over at Chasecam.com for helping me getting everything setup. My other devices had battery and other troubles, the Chase Cam worked great and produced some great video that you will get  to see soon enough.

So after way too much time spent on this whole deal I believe that this paint fiasco is almost behind us. The word I got today is a check was put in the mail today, so I have Saturday morning (and afternoon and evening) slated for a full detail job on the Corvette. It will most likely take all day, but the car always loves a good rub down. I think my boss is going to come over and do the same to his Minivan, though I am sure he will give up about half way through the process realizing he's clay barring and waxing a minivan!

Well the Peru National Tour is over and I am finally back home. I left St. Louis on the 19th of June and made it home, 10 days later.

Sunday of the Peru National Tour was better than Saturday, I finally managed to get a clean run, as did Dave. I think I ran the 5th fastest time in SS today, so I was happy with that. On my third run I ended up blowing out the far turn around, after that I pushed it a little hard in the slolom and paid the price with a little case of the white tornado.

I ended up moving up 2 positions for the day, as did Dave who was less than 2 tenths back from me on his best run today.

I'll work on getting video up from the event over the next few days. You can find 3 videos from yesterday here on this flickr set, as I post more they will also be listed there..

So I took the Z06 to Sears this morning to get another alignment done on the car. I hadn't had one done since 4/3, which was before most of the races and before I screwed the alignment up putting the Koni shocks back on. The toe in the rear was hosed (unsure why), the camber in the front was off as was the caster on the left front corner, which could explain the damage to the tire in Toledo. We'll see how well this new alignment works on Sunday as Dave and I battle it out, our goal is to finish 1 and 2 in index at our local event, me in 1st him in 2nd of course!

Because I slept for 5 hours after the event yesterday I was up until about 4am this morning, working on video from the autocross. I didn't get all of it processed but I did get quite a few posted. I'll try to get more posted later this week.

All the video posted (except for one inserted video) was shot with the Chase Cam and PDR, we are proud to have Chase Cam as a sponsor here at CorvetteZ06.org

You can find them on the Corvette flickr set, or by watching the videos below.

This time lapse makes my time lapse videos for www.project240z.com look amatuer (hey wait a minute, they are). This is apparently GM Engineers assembling an LS9 for a ZR1 (View the full blog post for the video.
